Take Profit Trader is a futures prop firm founded by James Sixsmith, distinguishing itself with a 'trader-first' approach that includes immediate withdrawals (Day One Payouts) and the removal of Daily Loss Limits. While evaluations feature a favorable End-of-Day drawdown, the funded 'PRO' accounts transition to an Intraday Trailing Drawdown.

These are sequential phases, not choices. Everyone enters at Test, graduates to PRO on passing, and is promoted to PRO+ only if Take Profit Trader's review concludes they're ready.
The drawdown type changes twice along the journey:
The middle step is the hard one. In Test the drawdown level only recalculates at the close, so intraday volatility costs you nothing structurally. The moment you're funded, that same drawdown starts trailing your peak balance including unrealized gains, in real time. Many traders pass comfortably and then breach a PRO account within days on a trade that would have been harmless the week before. This deserves prominent placement wherever the journey is described.
Account limits. Unlimited Test accounts, traded simultaneously.
5 active PRO/PRO+ accounts per person, combined across both types — three PRO and two PRO+ is fine, five of each is not. Separately, up to 10 passed tests may be activated in any 30 calendar days.
One rule set across all 5 sizes.
$25,000 — - TP $1,500 — / DD $1,500
$50,000 — - TP $3,000 — / DD $2,000
$75,000 — - TP $4,500 — / DD $2,500
Micros count at 10:1 — a $50K account can hold 6 minis or 60 micros.
Rule 1 — Hit your profit target. Fixed by size, as above.
Rule 2 — Don't exceed maximum position size. A static contract limit that does not scale with profit.
Rule 3 — Don't hit the EOD maximum trailing drawdown. Calculated only at the end of the trading day, not during open trades. It appears in the Control Center as Minimum Account Balance.
On a $25K account it starts at $23,500 and follows your highest EOD balance upward, stopping permanently once it reaches the original $25,000 starting balance. If the balance touches that level at any moment — realized or unrealized — the account is liquidated immediately.
Rule 4 — Trade approved products during approved hours. Most CME, CBOT, NYMEX and COMEX futures are permitted. Positions cannot be carried from one trading day to the next. The window runs 6 PM – 5 PM ET, and TPT auto-closes any open position at 4:55 PM ET. Trades opened at or after 6 PM count toward the next trading day. Holiday-adjusted closes are the trader's responsibility, and missing one means liquidation.
Rule 5 — Be consistent.
Rule 6 — No counter positions. No opposite positions in the same or closely related products across any accounts under your control. Covered in Section 2.4.
No daily loss limit at any stage — Test, PRO or PRO+.
No news trading restrictions on Test accounts. They apply only from PRO onward.
The Test is a monthly subscription, not a one-time fee, with no time limit to reach the target.
Billed on the same calendar day each month until cancelled.
Breaking a rule does not cancel the subscription — you must cancel it manually from the dashboard.
Resets are available at any time and do not change the renewal date.
If a renewal payment fails on the final attempt, the account expires and cannot be reactivated.
Passing with an overdue balance means the account will not move to PRO until it's paid.
On passing, the Test subscription is automatically cancelled. PRO carries no recurring fee.
Consistency applies only during the Test phase. Neither PRO nor PRO+ has any consistency requirement.
A trading day is any day on which you place at least one trade — there's no minimum profit attached. Hit the target in 2 days and you still need 3 more active days. No maximum; take as long as you like.
Highest profit day ÷ Net P/L = Consistency percentage
The result must be below 50%, measured on net P/L.
Exceeding it does not fail the account — it raises your target.
The adjusted figure appears directly in the dashboard.
Worked example ($50K, target $3,000): Day 1 makes $2,000, all other days combined make $1,100, so net P/L is $3,100. Consistency is $2,000 ÷ $3,100 = 65% — too high. The updated requirement becomes $3,100 × 2 = $6,200. Once net profit passes $4,001, the $2,000 day falls below 50% and the rule is satisfied.
Evaluation fails if the Maximum Loss Limit is breached.
None (on Funded)
PRO and PRO+ accounts must be traded at least one day per calendar week (Sunday–Friday).
A PRO account is issued at the same size as the Test you passed, and the maximum drawdown carries over unchanged.
This is the defining feature of the PRO stage.
Calculated intraday from your peak balance, including realized and unrealized gains.
It trails upward in real time as unrealized profit rises.
It never moves down, and stops permanently once it reaches your starting balance.
Touching the Minimum Account Balance at any moment liquidates the account.
Worked example on a $25K PRO account (drawdown $1,500): unrealized profit hits $1,000, so your minimum balance rises to $24,500 in real time. You close for a $500 realized gain, leaving a balance of $25,500 — but the minimum stays at $24,500. You are now $1,000 from liquidation, having banked $500. The peak you touched counts against you permanently, even though you never kept it.
You must be flat, with no open orders, one minute before, during, and one minute after:
Holding opposite positions in the same or closely related products across accounts under your control is prohibited — including ES↔MES, NQ↔MNQ, YM↔MYM, and other pairs at TPT's discretion. Long 2 ES on one account against short 1 MES on another is a violation.
Consequences: automatic liquidation of the affected account, forfeiture of all profit in it, and an emailed Counter-Positions Report detailing the trades. Repeated or severe cases can mean permanent closure.
Two points worth surfacing on the site: trade-copier misconfiguration is still your violation, and hedging via correlated futures is explicitly not allowed — this catches people who assume hedging is a legitimate strategy rather than a wash-trade issue.
PRO+ is invite-only and entirely at TPT's discretion. There's no published threshold — advancement is a holistic review of consistency, risk management, execution patterns and discipline over time.
The PRO account is placed on hold.
$5,000 of PRO profit is frozen and must stay there while PRO+ is active. Anything above $5,000 can be withdrawn immediately under normal PRO terms.
The PRO+ account starts at $0 balance with an EOD drawdown equal to the original PRO account's starting drawdown. A $50K PRO becomes a PRO+ starting at $0 with a −$2,000 EOD drawdown.
The minimum balance trails realized profit upward and stops at $0.
Market data is upgraded to professional access, during which PRO and Test accounts are unavailable for up to 12 hours.
All future trading and withdrawals must happen on PRO+ only.
If the PRO+ account is lost: remaining PRO+ profits plus the trader's share of the frozen $5,000 become withdrawable. If PRO+ ends negative, that amount is deducted from the frozen $5,000, and the remainder is paid under standard PRO split terms.
PRO accounts are withdrawal-eligible from day one.
No minimum trading days, no benchmark days, no consistency requirement, and no cap on the withdrawal amount. This is the simplest payout structure of any firm covered in this series.
The one thing standing between a new PRO trader and a withdrawal is the buffer zone.
PRO: 80/20 — trader keeps 80%.
PRO+: 90/10 — trader keeps 90%.
You may withdraw at 80% once your balance reaches the buffer zone, which equals your starting balance plus your maximum drawdown.
Profit sitting inside the buffer can be withdrawn, but only after the account has been terminated, and the split depends on how long the account was traded:
Profits taken inside buffer zone - Amount of buffer received
≤ 60 trading days since account opening — - 50%
> 60 trading days since account opening — - 80%
Daily. Eligibility is day-one and repeats every day thereafter. There is no cycle, no cooling-off period, and no reset counter.
The practical constraint is the daily balance update: the Control Center is not real-time and refreshes between 8 PM and 9 PM ET (recently moved up from 10–11 PM). Profit made at 3 PM can be withdrawn to the wallet the same evening.
The $250 fee threshold acts as a de facto minimum. Wallet withdrawals over $250 are free; withdrawals of $250 or less carry a $50 fee, deducted automatically. Requesting exactly $250 nets $200. Anyone withdrawing small amounts should batch to above $250.
PayPal may apply its own additional fees on top.
Two separate steps, each with its own timing.
The Profit Team manually reviews for compliance: up to 12 business hours, usually much faster.
US banks via Plaid: typically real-time, occasionally 1–2 business days.
International via PayPal or Wise: within 12 business hours.
First withdrawal requires signing a tax form via pop-up.
AML requirement worth stating plainly: the payout account must belong to the person registered at TPT. Mismatched details mean the payout is delayed for review or denied. LLC payouts must go through Wise, or PayPal with an LLC account.
Account fails if the Maximum Loss Limit is breached.
Take Profit Trader offers 'Day One Payouts,' allowing traders to withdraw profits immediately once they have a PRO account and meet the buffer requirement. There is no waiting period. The profit split is 80/20 for PRO accounts and 90/10 for PRO+ accounts. Withdrawals are processed via Plaid (US), PayPal, or Wise.
Payouts are typically processed within 24 hours (1 business day).
Payouts can be requested immediately (Day One) once the buffer requirement is met.
Minimum of 5 trading days is required to pass the evaluation.
VPN use is generally restricted to ensure compliance.
Allowed as long as it does not violate risk or consistency rules.
Scalping is permitted.
Use of bots and fully automated trading systems is prohibited.
